Louis Vuitton Transforms Bellver Castle into a Luxury Runway

Bellver Castle is about to shimmer like never before. From May 17 to June 3, the iconic hilltop fortress in Palma will host one of the city’s most exclusive events to date: a three-day high jewelry presentation by luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton.
Palma Steps Into the Global Fashion Spotlight
With just 230 handpicked guests per day, the invite-only showcase marks a bold statement — both for the brand and for Mallorca as an emerging fashion capital.
From Castle to Catwalk
Louis Vuitton is leasing the venue from the city for €175,000, gaining full access to the historic site for over two weeks. The castle will remain open to tourists during the early days of setup, but will close to the public as the event nears.
Preparations are already underway, with large white tents being erected in the castle’s parking area to support production logistics and staging.
Jet-Set Guest List & Lavish Accommodations
Palma’s luxury hotels — including the new Four Seasons in Pollença — are reportedly fully booked, with private jets bringing in VIPs from around the world. Rumor has it that Hollywood star Ana de Armas is on the guest list, along with major figures in fashion and media.
This isn’t Louis Vuitton’s first footprint in the city — the brand already holds a prime boutique location on Passeig del Born, but this event marks a major elevation of their presence on the island.
What This Means for Palma
Beyond the glamour, this event sends a strong signal: Palma is rising fast as a destination for high-profile luxury events. With the world watching, the Bellver Castle showcase positions Mallorca not just as a sun-and-sea escape, but a contender in the world of couture, craftsmanship, and culture.
⚖️ Controversy Surrounding the Bellver Castle Event
While the Louis Vuitton event has brought international attention and luxury glamour to Palma, not all residents and local voices are celebrating. As the exclusive dinners and private viewings unfold at Bellver Castle, some have raised concerns about the use of public heritage spaces for private, invitation-only events.
On Monday — the first of three event days — access to the castle grounds was closed from 4pm until 1am, sparking frustration among local residents. One woman reportedly expressed her anger to police officers after being denied access to her usual walking route, calling the situation “a disgrace.”
Heritage association ARCA has also spoken out, questioning the temporary privatization of such a significant municipal heritage site. In a public statement, they emphasized that Bellver Castle is a symbol of Palma’s identity, and should remain accessible to all citizens, not just luxury clientele.
Opposition politicians at Palma’s city hall have joined the criticism, accusing the mayor of “surrendering the castle” to commercial interests — despite the city reportedly earning up to €1,000 per hour in rental fees from the event.
